New Student Guide

A friendly first-class guide for WTK families

Starting martial arts should feel exciting, not intimidating. This guide helps new families know what to bring, what class feels like, and how WTK helps students get a confident first win.

Before your first class

  • Wear comfortable athletic clothes that are easy to move in.
  • Bring a water bottle.
  • Arrive about 10 minutes early so WTK can welcome your family, answer quick questions, and point you to the right place.
  • Tell WTK directly about any health, safety, accessibility, or participation notes the team should know.

Your first class vibe

  • Beginners are welcome; no martial arts experience is required.
  • Students jump into a structured, positive class with help from friendly instructors.
  • The goal is not perfection on day one; it is effort, focus, confidence, and a good first win.
  • Parents are welcome to observe from the designated viewing area.

What students will practice

  • Confidence, respect, listening, and focus.
  • Fitness, coordination, balance, and movement.
  • Practical self-defense skills taught safely and age-appropriately.
  • Traditional martial arts habits like courtesy, discipline, and perseverance.

After the trial

  • WTK will help your family choose the best class fit and training frequency.
  • No contracts are required.
  • Free uniform and belt are included when you enroll, and the current setup fee is $0 for new students.
  • WTK will size students for a uniform on the first day after they enroll in the school.
